Vote

Don’t be cynical and say your vote doesn’t matter.

Even if it’s true, and the place where you live is overrun with people who think and vote differently than you do, study and speak up by participation.

Become aware of the issues facing your city, your county, your state and your country. Know how they impact you. More than that, understand how they might impact the cause of the Gospel.

Because I firmly believe that when you know how to vote, you are more aware of the political and social realities that help or hinder the Good News. Then you will know how to pray better and more specifically for both the issues and the leaders who so strongly influence those issues.

I always want to learn to pray better. Understanding my vote can be a strong step in that direction.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
