My Favorite Week
Right now, between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, is my favorite week of the year.
It starts with the high celebration of our Savior’s birth, it ends with the much lower celebration of mine.
This week gives me an opportunity to reflect on my previous year (both the calendar year and my personal year) look forward to a brand new year, and in the middle of it all, keep focused on the awesome fact of the incarnation—which always drives me deep into thinking about the purpose of Jesus’ coming.
Life slows down. My kids are on Christmas vacation. There is a lot of cause to enjoy life.
So, I have nothing profound to write right now—just a reminder to enjoy this week. Slow down. Stop checking your email and social networking so much. Play some games. Watch a movie or two. Read a book. Hang out with those you love.
And don’t forget to spend some time with Jesus and let Him download some of His thoughts about your year just past, and about your year to come. You will find that His dreams for your future are far greater than any resolution you could ever make on your own.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
